Liza Soberano's Bold Leap into Hollywood

Liza Soberano is getting candid about the hurdles she's faced since swapping her successful career in the Philippines for a shot at Hollywood stardom. In a revealing chat on the "Painfully Human Podcast," she reflects on her decision to make the big move to Los Angeles, diving headfirst into the fiercely competitive world of American entertainment.

The transition hasn't been easy, especially when it comes to finances. Soberano admits that her financial reality has shifted dramatically since the move.

“When I first moved to LA, it really hurt me when people would say, 'Oh, laos na siya. We don't see her anywhere. Oh, laos na siya. She's only doing these small little influencer gigs.'”

Financial Adjustments and New Beginnings

Liza reveals that while she still earns primarily from her work in Asia, the cost of living in the U.S. demands a different approach. “I'm not making as much money as I did before," she shares, highlighting the challenges of currency conversion and increased expenses.

To make ends meet, she embraces influencer gigs and smaller brand deals, explaining, "I have to do all these little gigs every now and then because that's how I pay my bills." It's a practical strategy that keeps her afloat while she chases bigger opportunities in Tinseltown.

Embracing the Grind: Auditions and Rejections

Besides financial adjustments, Liza is embracing the grind of Hollywood—a scene marked by auditions, classes, and constant rejection. "In America, I do three to four auditions a week and I get rejected constantly," she notes.

Yet, despite the setbacks, her spirits remain high. “But I'm loving it now because I'm learning and growing so much.” This resilience has already paid off, landing her roles in upcoming projects like "Lisa Frankenstein" and a voice part in DreamWorks Animation's "Forgotten Island."
