Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up to launch its adrenaline-pumping attraction, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.” Recently, the theme park revealed the ride vehicles that will take fans on a thrilling journey, mimicking the high-octane action of the beloved film franchise. As the coaster preps for its grand opening later this year, Universal is cranking up the excitement with sneak peeks of these incredible cars.
The new ride vehicles are nothing short of spectacular, with four designs inspired by iconic cars from the “Fast & Furious” series. Fans can expect to hop into replicas of Dominic Toretto’s legendary 1970 Dodge Charger, Han’s flashy Mazda RX-7, and Brian O’Conner’s beloved Nissan Skyline GT-R and Toyota Supra. Universal Creative has gone all out to ensure these coaster trains capture the essence of the films' street racing legends while being equipped to handle the ride’s high-speed thrills.
“We wanted the coaster trains to look as authentic to the movie vehicles as possible, all while delivering the adrenaline rush only a roller coaster can provide,” shared a Universal Creative representative.
Kicking things off is Dom’s black 1970 Dodge Charger, recreated with its unforgettable exposed engine blower and sleek all-black finish. Universal has invested immense effort to replicate this muscle car's cinematic flair, integrating real automotive components for that extra touch of authenticity.
Next up is Han's vibrant orange-and-black Mazda RX-7. This ride vehicle stands out with its two-tone color scheme and street racing aesthetics, embodying the spirit of “Tokyo Drift” with its customized wheels and sporty suspension.
Fans of Brian O’Conner will relish the blue Nissan Skyline GT-R, a fan-favorite from the series. This tuner car is reborn with its signature blue sheen, echoing the film’s performance-driven style and legacy.
Completing the lineup is the orange Toyota Supra, a testament to the original film’s street racing roots. With recreated side graphics and unmistakable styling, this Supra is bound to thrill any die-hard fan.
These vehicle replicas are not just for show. Designed without roofs and seating four guests each, they’re built on cutting-edge coaster tech, guaranteeing speeds of up to 72 miles per hour. Adding to the excitement, the ride vehicles can rotate 360 degrees, capturing the heart-pounding sensation of drifting through turns.
