Uma Thurman's Hollywood Journey – Sans Los Angeles

Uma Thurman, the iconic "Kill Bill" star, carved out a legendary career without ever making the City of Angels her permanent home. In an exclusive chat with InStyle, Thurman shared how this decision might have kept her from forming deeper ties in Tinseltown.

Despite her status as an A-list action powerhouse, Thurman opted for the bustling life of New York. "I actually always wished I had moved to Los Angeles," she confessed during her recent cover interview. There was a time when the allure of Hollywood nearly had her moving to California.

A Near Move and a Life Pivot

At the height of her career, Thurman found herself frequently in LA. She even leased an apartment there, only to find herself expecting her daughter just six weeks later, swiftly changing her plans. "I never did time in Los Angeles, and because of that, I kind of never integrated into the community of my own profession, and I think that’s too bad," Thurman reflected.

Instead, Thurman built a community on the East Coast, bonding with fellow mothers during school pickups on 16th Street and Rutherford Place. "I had more of a community with the other mothers at pickup," she said. "But I wish I’d had that chapter."

Family Over Fame

The decision to prioritize family over a potential LA lifestyle was a practical one, though not without its trade-offs. Yet, Thurman holds no regrets. "I think the choice to be happy is one that should be made, regardless of any conditions," she asserted.

While Thurman has moved forward from her marriage to Ethan Hawke, with whom she shares two children, she acknowledges that everyone finds their way in their own time. Hawke remarried in 2008, and Thurman herself has navigated notable relationships since.

Uma Thurman's story is a testament to making choices that align with one's personal values, even in the glitzy world of Hollywood.
