The ever-charming Ryan Reynolds has broken his silence about the stormy legal battle that has captivated Hollywood – his wife Blake Lively's ongoing tussle with Justin Baldoni. In an exclusive Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist, Reynolds, 49, opened up about the intense legal drama unraveling behind the scenes.
“You really see kind of the illusion behind so much of this stuff, you know? Digital life versus real life,” Reynolds candidly shared, adding, “I’ll just say, I’ve never in my life been more proud of my wife.”
Lively, 38, and Baldoni, 42, are locked in a fierce showdown over accusations of sexual harassment and defamation. On April 2, a judge ruled to dismiss 10 of Lively's 13 claims against Baldoni, yet Reynolds hints that the saga is far from over, as he believes the public remains largely in the dark.
Despite most of her claims being tossed out, Lively is determined to press ahead with the remaining allegations, which include breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation. Baldoni continues to deny all allegations thrown his way.
The Deadpool star, who's been married to Lively for over 13 years and shares four children with her, isn't holding back his support. "People have no idea what's really going on, you know?" Reynolds remarked, emphasizing his admiration for Lively's integrity and resilience amid the drama.
Lively, meanwhile, remains vocal about the personal toll the lawsuit has taken on her. In an April 3 Instagram post, she expressed her hope that the upcoming trial will shift public perception, urging fans to see beyond the celebrity headlines.
“The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit,” Lively stated, adding, “I hope the Court's decision shows others that, as unfathomably painful as it is, you can speak up.”
The global stage is set for May 18, when Lively takes her remaining claims to trial. As the world watches, the question remains: will justice prevail in this high-stakes Hollywood drama?
