Perez Hilton is making headlines once again, but not for the usual celebrity gossip. The entertainment blogger found himself back in the hospital after doctors discovered a “massive” blood clot in his body. The shocking revelation led to an urgent need for surgery.
Hilton, 48, shared his alarming experience through a heartfelt video on Instagram on Thursday, April 2. “Last night, I started having real soreness and pain in one of my legs. This morning, it got way worse. I couldn’t even walk. I had to use a walker,” he admitted. The situation became critical when an ultrasound confirmed the presence of a blood clot, or deep vein thrombosis, that could have led to severe complications if left untreated.
“If that blood clot had gone to my lungs or my heart, it could have been real bad,” Hilton confessed, appreciating the early detection and the expertise of the medical team at Southern Hills.
Hilton’s candid update quickly garnered an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities. Well-known names like Candace Cameron Bure, Melissa Rivers, Kim Zolciak, and Meghan McCain reached out, offering their thoughts and prayers. Among the touching messages was a profound note from singer Robbie Williams, sent via X: “Perez, this part of your journey is deeply touching my heart. Something very, very special is happening to you.”
As Hilton prepared for his thrombectomy surgery scheduled for 8 AM the next day, he expressed his gratitude and optimism. “I sit and wait for my thrombectomy surgery at 8 AM. And THIS angel contemplates my fate!” he posted, referring to Williams’ encouraging words.
This isn’t the first time Hilton has faced health challenges. Earlier this year, he spent 21 days in the hospital battling and ultimately overcoming sepsis. It was an ordeal that, as Hilton recounted in a March 23 YouTube video, was both the worst and best experiences of his life. “It was such a slow process... Two weeks of just sickness and then another week of getting better before I was released.”
Now, Hilton is focused on transforming his lifestyle, prioritizing sleep, and cherishing family moments with his kids and mom. His resilient spirit and positive outlook continue to inspire, as he confidently trusts in his medical team and faith to guide him through this latest challenge.
