Pants-Less Soldier Sparks Chaos At German Nursing Home

In a twist straight out of a comedy sketch, Sunday morning at a nursing home in Germany's Grafenwoehr was anything but usual. Residents were left shocked when they encountered an American soldier in a perplexing outfit choice – only a sports jersey and underwear.

The bizarre scene unfolded when an employee, making their morning rounds, stumbled upon the heavily intoxicated soldier in an unoccupied room on January 25. Local law enforcement reported that the soldier was at a loss to explain how he ended up in the facility or the whereabouts of his missing trousers. Authorities hypothesize the soldier slipped into the building during a shift change.

Grafenwoehr Training Area, famous as the largest military training ground in Europe, often sees various units rotate through for exercises. This mysterious soldier, belonging to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, was confirmed by Kayla Overton, spokesperson for the U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria, to be part of the brigade.

“We are working in close cooperation with our host nation partners to investigate the incident. The soldier is with their unit, and we await the investigation’s findings before determining next steps,” stated Capt. Jennifer French, a public affairs officer for the brigade.

Overton also highlighted the role of military police who regularly patrol off-post areas to deter crime and assist service members. There are also Courtesy Patrols, which include active-duty military personnel patrolling on weekends to ensure soldiers' safety.

Interestingly, local police noted a potential link to a prior theft involving a license plate as another individual, also described wearing a sports jersey, was seen near the incident. This has added an intriguing twist to the investigation.
