Alex Ianculescu, an Olympic speed skater, has crafted a new path to success by stepping into the world of adult content on OnlyFans. Driven by financial necessity, she turned to the platform to continue her athletic pursuits. Now, at 34, this Romanian-Canadian athlete not only graces the Winter Olympics 2026 as a commentator but also advises fellow athletes on monetizing their content.
Starting her journey at the tender age of 11, Ianculescu followed in the footsteps of her mother, a former national ice skating champion in Romania. Despite early victories, financial struggles were a constant hurdle. "My parents didn’t have any money and skating was the cheapest, so I stuck with it," Alex shared with The Sun.
During the 2018 Winter Olympics, she represented Romania in the women's 500-meter race. However, the sport's limited financial rewards forced her to juggle three part-time jobs, sacrificing precious training time. "I worked at a sushi shop in the mall, at Lululemon, and a restaurant on weekends," she recalled.
The challenge intensified when Alex relocated to the Netherlands amid the 2020 pandemic. Language barriers and dwindling savings left her without options until a friend's suggestion changed everything. "It was the best decision of all," Alex affirmed as she embraced the platform.
With newfound financial stability, she funded treatments for a back injury and revved up her training regimen. "There’s no way I could have done it again working three jobs," she emphasized. The success on OnlyFans reshaped her athletic career, granting her autonomy and a renewed focus.
Alex’s story resonates beyond her own journey. Her success and transparency have inspired a shift among athletes and Olympians from Great Britain and beyond. "Many athletes reached out for advice on how to enter the platform," she mentioned. "I wish I had that when I was younger."
This changing landscape in the Olympic sphere, where content selling is no longer taboo, represents a broader cultural shift. "I'm honest about it... now it’s part of the normal world," Alex remarked, reflecting on her groundbreaking journey from skates to digital fame.
