It's hard to believe that a decade has passed since Olivia Bowen first sashayed into the limelight on Love Island's second season. Back then, an eager young woman from Essex was simply looking for a memorable summer – little did she know she'd stumble upon true love with Alex Bowen. Fast forward to today, Olivia is basking in the sun of her new Spanish villa, reflecting on her journey with her eldest son, Abel.
Back in those early days, love seemed elusive to Olivia. "I didn’t believe in love back then. I didn’t believe in finding ‘the one’. I didn’t believe in getting married," she confesses. But meeting Alex changed everything, despite fears that her difficult romantic past might haunt her future.
Olivia's path to happiness wasn't without its trials. While pregnant with her daughter Siena, Olivia faced the heartbreak of Vanishing Twin Syndrome, a loss she shares in her latest book, 'Lost Until Love.' For Olivia, speaking about her grief was a challenge. "The grief is so hard. And people deal with it in different ways," she shares, emphasizing the importance of open dialogue and understanding.
“For me, I’m a talker and an over-sharer. I’m an open book, and it’s always helped me speaking to people. But when I went through that, it took me a couple of weeks to even speak to Alex about it."
Her candid portrayal of this experience has resonated with fans, highlighting that sometimes healing begins by simply sharing your truth.
Beyond the glitz of reality TV, Olivia's story is one of resilience and self-discovery. Her childhood was challenging, marked by her parents' divorce and personal struggles with self-image and mental health. These experiences, she believes, have shaped her approach as a mother – advocating for self-care so she can be the best version of herself for her children.
“You have to fill up your own cup, and you have to do things for yourself. I had to take myself to therapy, and in turn, my children get the best version of me,” Olivia explains.
Through her book and public reflections, Olivia offers a beacon of hope for others dealing with life's hardships. Her message is clear: growth and healing are possible, and every challenge can offer a lesson if you're willing to learn.
