Nikki Glaser's Golden Globes Revelations

Nikki Glaser, fresh from her second stint hosting the Golden Globes, sat down with Howard Stern to dish on why this year's event steered clear of political humor. The decision, she revealed, was a careful one – aimed at balancing the show for audiences at home and in the hall.

Glaser, who charmed audiences with her wit and grace, explained, "It’s not funny. I was going to come in at some point and say, ‘I’m hearing from the bar that we’re out of ice. And you know, we don’t really need ice. And actually, I hate ice.’ It just felt like, oh, even that’s just being too trivial. That’s what it felt like. This isn’t even that anymore. It’s hard to strike the right tone."

The Steve Martin Connection

Even comedy legend Steve Martin was in on the action, sending Glaser a joke about the "Trump Beverly Hilton," which she chose not to use. The reason? Even mentioning the current political landscape seemed too hot to handle. "It was like, you just don’t say that guy’s name right now," Glaser told Stern, emphasizing the delicate balance she aimed to achieve.

“I just want to give it space,” she explained, capturing the general sentiment shared by her and Martin.

Mixing Comedy with Caution

But Glaser didn’t shy entirely from edgy humor. She managed a jab at CBS during her monologue – a nod to the network's controversial editorial decision. "The award for most editing goes to CBS News. Yes. CBS News: America’s newest place to ‘see B.S.’ news,” she quipped, much to the delight of audiences.

A Glimpse into Glaser's World

Beyond the Globes, Glaser opened up about her career, personal life, and even her history with Judd Apatow, whom she once babysat for over 15 years ago. Now, she's looking towards the future with a screenplay in the works under Apatow's guidance. "I remember thinking, ‘this person’s probably never gonna see you as anything other than a nanny,’" she reflected, appreciating the mutual respect they share.

Cuts, Quips, and Comedy Gold

While some jokes were deemed too risky for the night, they didn’t go to waste. Glaser shared the nixed material with Stern, including playful barbs at Hollywood's A-listers. Unfortunately, Brad Pitt and Jean Smart were among those who missed Glaser's witty observations.

Nikki Glaser is currently dazzling audiences with her comedy residency at Las Vegas's Venetian Hotel and Casino alongside David Spade, promising more laughs and fewer political minefields.
