The actress, who was dropped from the iconic horror franchise for voicing opinions on the Israel–Palestine conflict, has publicly called her former co-stars 'scabs.' Barrera didn't hold back in a recent interview with Variety, where she candidly criticized those who continued the project after her dismissal.

Her exit from the movie set off a chain reaction. Following Barrera's departure, Jenna Ortega and the director also left the project, leaving 'Scream 7' in turmoil. To salvage the film, producers brought back original stars like Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard, a move Barrera describes as 'nostalgia-baiting.' Despite the drama, the film reportedly broke records, grossing $97.2 million globally during its opening weekend.

“Oh, one hundred percent. I think they all are. And they have to live with that,” Barrera said about her former colleagues.

Doubts and Loyalty

Despite the reported success, Barrera has her doubts about the box office numbers. She claims they are exaggerated, aligning with the Variety interviewer's critique that the film 'sucked.' Yet, the legacy of her 'Scream' days remains intact. “At the stage door, I sign Scream things every night. People who love me from those movies are coming to see the show, and they can’t ever take that away from me,” Barrera noted.

Gratitude and Closure

Barrera played Sam Carpenter in two 'Scream' films, marking a significant chapter in her career. Even though her departure was abrupt, she maintains gratitude for the opportunity. "The reality is that Scream is always going to be a big part of me because it was two years of my life, and I’m grateful specifically to [directors] Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and Tyler [Gillett] who gave me that shot. That hasn’t been soured for me. They don’t have that power," she shared.
