Luke Littler has done it again! The 18-year-old darts sensation has snagged his second World Darts Championship title at the renowned Alexandra Palace. Despite a nail-biting start – losing the first set – Littler stormed back, steamrolling past his formidable opponent, Gian van Veen, to seize the coveted Sid Worrell Trophy. His victory was not just a testament to his skill but a cash bonanza too, with Littler pocketing a cool £1 million, a staggering leap from last year’s £500,000 prize.
As Littler basked in his victory, his girlfriend, Faith Millar, a 19-year-old beautician from Wigan, was right by his side at Ally Pally. Since going public last May, Millar has been a constant at Littler's tournaments, supporting him from the stands and rubbing shoulders with celebs like singer Lewis Capaldi and YouTubers Harry Lewis and Ethan Payne.
But it's not all glitz and glam. Littler had to give Millar a heads-up about the celebrity glare. "She's a lovely lady," Littler shared, highlighting the online trolling that comes with the territory of being a high-profile athlete’s partner.
“They're jealous. They wanna ruin us. I just said, 'Just don't look at it and just focus on what we've got,'” Littler advised Millar, acknowledging the tough road they’ve navigated due to online negativity.
Littler is no stranger to the harsh spotlight, having previously defended his ex-girlfriend, Eloise Milburn, from similar scrutiny. The abuse – largely due to her age difference with Littler – resurfaced even after their split in July 2024. Reflecting on his experiences, Littler seems seasoned in managing public attention, urging trolls to back off.
Having the likes of cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy present, who awarded the trophies despite his own battle with prostate cancer, added to the emotional intensity of the event. Littler's triumph was more than just a win; it was a celebration of resilience and love in the face of public pressure.
