Lena Dunham is embracing a quieter lifestyle, oscillating between the dynamic streets of London and the tranquil countryside of Connecticut. With her husband, musician Luis Felber, and their quartet of beloved pet pigs, Dunham is crafting a life that's a world away from the Hollywood spotlight.
“I really love London deeply," Dunham shared, "although I will say that there are times when the lack of exceptional tacos really gets to me.”
Since moving to London in January 2021, the "Girls" creator has been living an eclectic international life. Her whirlwind romance with Peruvian-British musician Luis Felber, sparked by a blind date, led to a September 2021 wedding with none other than Taylor Swift playing bridesmaid. Dunham admits the speed of her nuptials was a surprise, especially after her breakup with Jack Antonoff in 2017. Yet, nearly five years into marriage, she finds herself delightedly smitten.
In Connecticut, Dunham revels in farm life near her artistic parents, Carroll Dunham and Laurie Simmons. It's here that her four pigs steal the show. "Two live inside and two in the barn," Lena explains, "and I'm obsessed with them all." She humorously describes her porcine pals as "chatty" and "emotional," likening them to "a terrible two-toddler who can only oink."
Pigs, Dunham insists, defy the stereotype of being messy. They're "very tidy" and make it clear when something needs cleaning. They strike a chord with her: "When I met pigs, I was like, ‘Oh, I get it, you’re chatty, scared, and not that steady on your feet, I completely get you.’"
On top of managing her transatlantic life, Dunham is promoting her memoir, “Famesick.” The book delves into the harsh realities of fame and her personal battles with chronic illness, including insights into her work on "Girls" and her previous relationship with Antonoff. With charismatic candor, Dunham continues to navigate her unique path, balancing creative endeavors with personal fulfillment.
