Kim Novak's Disapproval of the Casting

Kim Novak has not held back her thoughts on the upcoming film 'Scandalous!' In a recent interview with The Times of London, the iconic 'Vertigo' actress voiced her dissatisfaction over Sydney Sweeney being cast as her in the movie, which explores her 1950s romance with Sammy Davis Jr. Directed by Colman Domingo, making his directorial debut, the film also stars David Jonsson as Davis.

“I would never have approved,” Novak said about Sweeney portraying her, adding that the 'Euphoria' star “sticks out so much above the waist.”

Concerns About the Film's Focus

Novak's criticism digs deeper than just casting. She fears the film may sensationalize the sexual aspect of her relationship with Davis, overshadowing the meaningful connection they shared. “There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time,” Novak stated. “She was totally wrong to play me.” Representatives for Sweeney have yet to comment on Novak's remarks.

Behind the Scenes of 'Scandalous!'

Sydney Sweeney, who is also producing the film, previously discussed her collaboration with Domingo on the 'Awards Chatter' podcast. "When I was putting the package together, we were circling different directors," she shared. "The entire time I was like the only person who would really be able to tell this story and to the degree that it needs to be beautifully told is Colman Domingo." Sweeney recounted how Domingo was immediately drawn to the script, leading to a passionate effort to bring 'Scandalous!' to life.

While Sweeney remained tight-lipped about any direct interactions with Novak, she did mention, "Colman and her have a really beautiful relationship. They've been talking," hinting at some kind of connection between the film's creators and the Hollywood legend.
