Hollywood Shocker: Kiefer Sutherland Behind Bars

Famous for his intense on-screen roles, Kiefer Sutherland found himself in an off-screen drama this New Year. The 59-year-old actor was arrested in the early hours of January 1 in Los Angeles after allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver. According to LAPD officer Kevin Terzes, Sutherland was taken into custody near the bustling intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood.

Allegations of Assault and Threats

The incident reportedly unfolded shortly after midnight when Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle. Officer Terzes detailed, "On January 12, around 12:15 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a radio call regarding an assault involving a ride-share driver near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue." Sutherland allegedly physically assaulted the driver and made criminal threats, leading to his arrest for "Criminal Threats, in violation of California Penal Code section 422."

“The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim,” Terzes revealed.

Investigation and Upcoming Court Date

Despite the serious allegations, the ride-share driver reportedly did not require medical treatment at the scene. Sutherland was booked into jail but was soon released on a $50,000 bond. The "24" star is due to appear in court on February 2 at Los Angeles County Superior Court, where more light will be shed on this unfolding situation.

The incident is currently under investigation by detectives from LAPD's Hollywood Division, who are digging deeper into the circumstances surrounding this high-profile case. As the story develops, the anticipation for Sutherland's upcoming court appearance grows.
