Looks like the Hollywood door is swinging open again for Kevin Spacey, who, after a whirlwind of legal drama, says he's feeling the love from Tinseltown. Catching up with Bill Maher on June 28's "Club Random" podcast, the "American Beauty" icon shared that his once dimming career seems to be brightening up, thanks to a series of favorable legal outcomes.

“I never said there was no fire,” Spacey clarified. “It just wasn't a raging forest fire. It was a small kitchen fire that could have been put out with an extinguisher.”

Since the wave of allegations began in 2017, Spacey has faced the legal spotlight multiple times. A federal jury cleared him in 2022, a London jury followed suit in 2023, and by 2026, he had settled out of court with three accusers. The actor seems ready to reclaim his career, noting that Hollywood is beginning to feel like home again.

Legal Battles and Career Comeback

Spacey's legal battles began when Anthony Rapp accused him of misconduct dating back to a 1986 party. Rapp, who was just 14 at the time, sparked a series of allegations leading to lawsuits and trials. Although Spacey faced accusations from 15 individuals, many linked to his "House of Cards" era, not a single jury found him guilty.

The years of litigation left a mark on the two-time Oscar winner's career. Spacey was removed from "All the Money in the World," but not one to stay off-screen, he's since dabbled in projects like "1780," "Torrente for President," "Minimarket," and "The Contract."

A Sense of Belonging

As the dust begins to settle, Spacey feels he's no longer locked in a "show business jail." During his chat with Maher, he expressed optimism about his place in Hollywood. "I believe we're at a point now where I think people now are beginning to look at what actually happened," he asserted.

Using a sports metaphor, Spacey compared his hiatus to a sports player's temporary benching. "... if I had been a sports figure, I would have been benched for seven games," he mused, suggesting his return is overdue. Spacey hopes this new chapter marks a turning point, signaling a warm welcome back to the Hollywood fold.
