Kerry Katona is facing a health scare that has landed her in a hospital, but not in the way you'd expect. The former Atomic Kitten star took to Instagram Stories to share an unexpected update: she's currently being treated from a corridor bed, waiting patiently for a spot on the ward.
In her social media post, Kerry, 45, revealed that she has been in the hospital since the previous morning, battling symptoms of a condition known as colitis. "Hi guys," she said, her voice tinged with fatigue, "it's 2.10 in the morning and I have been in hospital since yesterday – yesterday morning. It's very full so unfortunately, I'm on a bed in the hall." She even showed off an intravenous cannula in her arm, underscoring the severity of her situation.
“I have something called colitis – something to do with my bowel. So it's been s**t – excuse the pun. I haven't slept since yesterday, the day before. I'm in the right place.”
The NHS describes ulcerative colitis as a chronic condition causing inflammation of the colon and rectum, with symptoms like frequent bowel movements and abdominal pain. This isn't the first time Kerry has been open about her health. Last August, she shared another struggle after her engagement with Ryan Mahoney fell through. She experienced hair loss, a condition known as alopecia, which she attributed to stress from her breakup.
The mother-of-five, who was juggling multiple performances at the time, found solace in her new relationship with Paolo Margaglione. The pair met on Celebs Go Dating and have since been inseparable. "I've always wanted to own my own home, so we're working towards that together," Kerry said, expressing her contentment and future plans with Paolo.
Kerry and Paolo are not rushing into any big commitments like marriage or expanding their family, choosing instead to relish each moment. "Paolo and I have been together nearly a year now, but it feels like seven years already! It's like he's been in my life forever," she gushed.
Amidst her personal life and health, Kerry is also gearing up for a busy work schedule, including a Mamma Mia tribute tour called "Here We Go Again" starting May 4. Recently, she shared her excitement for a Valentine's getaway planned by Paolo, hoping for some sun after a chilly trip to Turkey.
Despite her struggles, Kerry remains optimistic and focused on juggling her family, career, and love life with grace.
