As the world celebrates a nostalgic 50th anniversary of the iconic TV show "Charlie's Angels," one former star is revealing why she turned her back on the glitz and glam. Kate Jackson, who bravely portrayed Sabrina Duncan, is pulling back the curtain on why she left Hollywood behind.
Jackson reminisced with People about "those horrible tabloids" that took a messy situation and made it unbearable. The fame floodgate opened wide, and for Jackson, it became a suffocating torrent. "We lost our privacy, totally. We just absolutely totally lost every bit of privacy," Jackson admitted, adding, "And then, to make it worse, those horrible tabloids."
"Charlie's Angels" soared on screens for five seasons, captivating audiences worldwide from 1976 to 1981. Jackson, however, bowed out after three seasons due to scheduling conflicts and creative differences.
Not one to be pigeonholed, Jackson had a robust career both before and after "Charlie's Angels." She dazzled in "Dark Shadows" and "The Rookies," and in the '80s, she captivated on "Scarecrow and Mrs. King." Yet, after a couple more decades of sporadic roles, including a guest spot on "Criminal Minds" in 2007, the big parts seemed to fade away.
Even with her Hollywood departure almost two decades ago, Jackson never lost the sisterhood she cherished with her co-stars. She recently reunited with Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd at PaleyFest. "It's been a long time. It feels good to be together," Jackson confessed, initially nervous but quickly settling back into the camaraderie.
“We just fell right back into place. Yeah, being together. It feels really good.”
The bond they share remains as strong as ever. "Time didn't break it. Time, we still embrace it in the distance. And we're always for each other," Jackson shared, highlighting the genuine care and love that never faded.
