Hollywood's beloved Kate Hudson recently shared how she took a much-needed pause following the high-octane awards season. The buzz around her Best Actress Oscar nod for "Song Sung Blue" was electrifying, but post-March, the actress decided it was time to recharge by embracing quality family moments.
At Netflix's "Running Point" season 2 premiere, Hudson, 47, told PEOPLE: "I took spring break with my kids and I just shut everything down." This came after her exhilarating experience as a nominee, and the family retreat couldn't have been more perfectly timed.
“I just shut everything down,” Hudson revealed, capturing the essence of her tranquil post-awards retreat.
The actress, who is a devoted mom to Ryder Russell, 22, Bingham Hawn, 14, and Rani Rose, 7, took this break as an opportunity to cherish time with her children. Hudson's performance as Claire "Thunder" Sardinia in "Song Sung Blue"—which hilariously unravels in a Neil Diamond tribute band—earned her not just applause, but also deep camaraderie with fellow nominees like Rose Byrne, Renate Reinsve, Emma Stone, and Oscar winner Jessie Buckley.
Reflecting on the journey, Hudson shared her gratitude for the bonds formed during the season, saying, "In reflection, I'm so lucky that I got to be able to have that experience with such wonderful people."
Hudson’s role in "Running Point" has also been a source of new friendships, notably with executive producer Jeanie Buss. Their relationship, which began decades ago, has now blossomed with Buss serving as a muse for Hudson's character. Their special bond is a testament to the real-life inspiration behind the show.
"I think, not only is it wonderful, but I think we both do see the growth," Hudson remarked, reflecting on her enduring friendship with Buss.
With so much in the pipeline and strong personal connections, Hudson is more than ready for whatever Hollywood throws her way next.
