Miami's Unique Vibe

"There is no city in the world like Miami – it has this energy that’s only possible when people from many different cultures and backgrounds are all coming together in a beautiful place," says José Andrés. The celebrated chef, who co-founded World Central Kitchen, is no stranger to Miami's vibrant scene and cuisine.

Andrés, who has been awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom for his humanitarian efforts, is a fixture at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival. With 40 restaurants under his belt and a new partnership with Delta Air Lines, he somehow always finds time for Miami.

“Miami’s culinary scene is like no other, a melting pot of culture and flavors.”

José's Top Miami Picks

Among Andrés's favorite Miami spots is Zaytinya at 1 Lincoln Road, where he highlights the rich culinary traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean. For a more laid-back vibe, Bar Centro at 4041 Collins Ave. serves exciting cocktails like the Reverse Carajillo.

When in Little Havana, Andrés stops by Cafe La Trova, a creation by his friend Michelle Bernstein, known for its amazing food, cocktails, and electric live music. He also can't resist the charm of the Broken Shaker at 2727 Indian Creek Drive, a relatively new but iconic part of Miami's cocktail scene.

For the best tacos in town, Andrés heads to Tacotomia, run by chef Karla Hoyos. At Joe’s Stone Crab, a Miami legend over 100 years old, he finds some of the best seafood around.

Beyond the Plates

Andrés shares memories of Española Way where he once endeavored to open a restaurant. It's a place he still loves, particularly for its cigar bar and lounge.

A book lover at heart, Andrés visits Books & Books in Coral Gables. The Andaz Miami Beach, with its stunning design and beachfront views, is another favorite, alongside the luxurious Ritz-Carlton at 1 Lincoln Road.

Finally, no visit is complete without a cortadito from the classic ventanitas at Versailles on Calle Ocho, a staple of Miami's vibrant coffee culture.
