However, Jeff Zarrinnam, the head honcho at the Hollywood Sign Trust, isn't buying it. He strongly suspects that computer-generated imagery (CGI) played a part in the shocking footage.
Zarrinnam expressed his doubts about the authenticity of the video, especially the final shot where Sweeney poses triumphantly in front of the bra-adorned landmark. "There's no way you could have covered the sign in that amount of time," he told BBC's Newsbeat, insisting that climbing the 50-foot sign at night is an extremely delicate affair.
"They used CGI for that," Zarrinnam stated emphatically. "It would take you hours to do that."
Missteps, Investigations, and Possible Charges
The viral clip, shared by Sweeney herself on Instagram, sparked debate over the legality and logistics of the stunt. Zarrinnam also pointed out an error in the claims that Sydney scaled the letter H in the sign, clarifying that she climbed the letter L instead. "If she'd tried climbing the H she probably would've fallen and broken her neck," he added.
The controversy isn't just about video trickery. There's a growing chatter about potential criminal charges against the Euphoria actress, as the stunt doubled as a promotional push for her new lingerie brand, Syrn. Zarrinnam is actively investigating the situation but hasn't heard back from Sweeney or her team yet. "I have to be fair," he remarked, contemplating whether Sydney's team was aware of the rules.
Future Security and Public Concerns
Facing pressure from concerned neighbors, Zarrinnam is seriously considering legal action. "The decision to press charges against Sydney is down to him and is something that he is seriously considering," he explained, determined to prevent future stunts and send a strong message.
In response to the incident, Zarrinnam plans to boost security measures around the famed sign. "You'll even see on the video there are no trespassing signs around the perimeter of the fence. Looks like I might have to buy some more," he revealed, underscoring the need for tighter control following the publicized stunt.
