Hold onto your seats, because Democrat Graham Platner's political saga is taking a wild turn! The sexting scandal surrounding his campaign has just set the rumor mill ablaze. This all comes after a bombshell dropped by a key source, who claims she was threatened by a high-level consultant. It seems like things are heating up for Platner just as the Maine Senate race looms.
Enter Morris Katz, a Democrat strategist on the Platner team. He's allegedly sent some seriously threatening messages to Genevieve McDonald, Platner's former political director and state representative. The Bangor Daily News confirmed these allegations, revealing that Katz warned her against talking to the media.
“Just want to be clear on where we are right now,” Katz reportedly messaged. “If the story goes in its current iteration we’ll communicate directly on the record, and by name, that Genevieve violated the personal trust of Amy and Graham and shared explicit falsehoods to sabotage the campaign.”
The drama thickens as McDonald, breaking her silence, insists she didn't go to the press out of spite. Instead, she argues she was approached by a Wall Street Journal reporter months before any story surfaced. Her narrative took a turn when she got wind of the Journal's imminent story and provided her comments.
After McDonald shared her piece, Katz demanded she retract it and even insisted on a recording of the call as proof. Her refusal to be strong-armed led her to go on the record with The New York Times, declaring she wouldn't be intimidated by "some punk kid consultant from NYC.”
Amidst all of this, the Platner campaign reportedly dangled a $15,000 carrot in the form of a non-disclosure agreement at McDonald's resignation, which she boldly turned down. As the dust settles, all eyes are on June 9, when Graham Platner is expected to be named the Democrat nominee for the U.S. Senate election in Maine.
