The hunt for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of renowned journalist Savannah Guthrie, just got more intense. The FBI has unveiled new details about the suspect linked to her mysterious disappearance, ramping up the reward for information to a staggering $100,000.
In a major development, the FBI's Operational Technology Division has cracked open new insights from doorbell camera footage, pinpointing a suspect believed to be between 5’9” and 5’10”, with an average build, spotted carrying a distinct black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.
“We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving,” shared an FBI representative, after revealing that over 13,000 tips have poured in since February 1, 2026.
The spotlight on this case has intensified with the FBI's announcement that the reward for any information leading to Nancy Guthrie's whereabouts or the apprehension of those responsible has been heightened to $100,000. Meanwhile, the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed the analysis of a pair of black gloves recovered from the scene, requesting video footage from nearby residents dating from January 1 to February 2.
Surveillance photos and videos released earlier by the FBI reveal a possible suspect cloaked in anonymity – wearing a jacket, ski mask, gloves, and a firearm visibly tucked at the waist. Although authorities questioned an individual on the matter, they were released the following day.
As the investigation unfolds, Nancy's family remains in the public eye, with Savannah Guthrie, along with her siblings Camron and Annie, fervently appealing to the suspected kidnappers via social media to return their mother unharmed.
"We received your message, and we understand," Savannah pleaded in one emotional video. "We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay."
While the case continues to be treated as a potential abduction, Sheriff Chris Nanos remains optimistic about Nancy Guthrie's fate. "We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here," he expressed, emphasizing his hope that Nancy remains alive and can be saved from her captors. Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports of a ransom note sent to TMZ and local outlets linger, adding to the mystery surrounding the case.
