Milly Alcock takes center stage as Kara Zor-El in the latest trailer for the highly-anticipated 'Supergirl' film. Released on Tuesday by DC Studios, the trailer showcases Alcock's Kara on a desperate mission to save her superpup, Krypto. With her cameo in last year's 'Superman' still fresh in fans' minds, Alcock is set to helm this interstellar adventure that promises action and heart.
David Corenswet's Clark Kent, aka Superman, opens the trailer with a heartfelt message to Kara, expressing his worries about her constant off-world ventures. "I’m just worried that you’re not gonna find your stride here if you keep going off-world all the time, Kara," he says, to which she responds, "Yeah, well, that’s the thing, Clark. I have no people."
Kara's connection to her furry companion shines through when she tells Krypto, "Home is wherever you are, buddy." However, their bond is tested when villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills, played by Matthias Schoenaerts, poisons Krypto, leaving him with only three days to live. Kara's race against time to save her friend forms the emotional core of the film.
The trailer also teases the dynamic pairing of Kara and Jason Momoa's Lobo, an anti-hero with a penchant for chaos. As the adversary strikes, the unlikely duo embarks on a thrilling journey packed with interstellar vengeance and justice. Expect the unexpected as the two navigate action-packed sequences together.
In December, an exclusive preview event for 'Supergirl' was held in New York City, graced by the presence of DCU co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Director Craig Gillespie, discussing the film, emphasized its unique take: "This is really an anti-hero story. She’s got a lot of demons, a lot of baggage coming into this, which is very different from where Superman is in his life."
Gunn added a refreshing perspective on female superheroes, stating, "So many times female superheroes are so perfect. She’s not that at all. Like male superheroes have been allowed to be for a while."
Mark your calendars as 'Supergirl' flies into theaters on June 26, promising a cinematic experience like no other.
