Denise Richards Opens Up About Her Facelift: "It'S Given Me A New Lease On Life"

Eight months ago, at 55, Denise took a leap and had a full facelift. The decision wasn't made lightly, as she admits she was "terrified" about undergoing surgery on her face for the first time. Speaking candidly with Allure, Denise shared, "I wanted to put things back up, where they were before. I was terrified. Being in the public eye since my 20s, people know what I look like – a facelift is not something that I could hide."

New Confidence Amid Challenges

Performed by Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Talei, this procedure has done more than just rejuvenate her appearance. Denise describes the change as "night and day," giving her a fresh start after her split from Aaron Phypers. "It's just given me a new lease of life," she remarked, reflecting on the newfound confidence she's gained. Despite the difficult period following her divorce, Denise emphasizes how the facelift has boosted her self-assurance. "It's given me confidence," she adds, "And people have asked me, if I wasn't an actress, would I still have had it? And I would have."

Deciding to Go Public

Originally, Denise had considered keeping this procedure a secret. However, her ex-husband Aaron Phypers spilled the beans after a photographer was tipped off about her post-surgery appointment. "He had a photographer show up outside an appointment where I had some microneedling on my scars," she revealed. The situation forced Denise's hand, leading her to share her story openly. "I think I could have gotten away with, 'Oh, she looks so much better after her divorce.' I think I probably would've been able to get away with it – or not, I don't know."

Denise ultimately sees the value in being transparent. She reflects on past cosmetic surgeries like her breast implants, and the importance of sharing her experiences with other women. "Back when I had my breast implants done in the ’90s, we just weren't open about that stuff. In a way, I think it's good to be private. But in a way, I think it's good to be open and honest – especially with other women that are my age," she expressed. Her candidness now serves to inspire others, showing that it's never too late to reinvent oneself – inside and out.
