Christian Bale’s Surprising Movie Preferences

Christian Bale, the versatile actor with an impressive list of awards including an Academy Award, recently revealed a surprising personal preference: he doesn't watch many movies. This includes skipping the latest 'Frankenstein' adaptation.

Speaking at the star-studded New York City premiere of 'The Bride!', held on March 3 at The Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Bale, who portrays Frankenstein's monster in the film, confessed he has yet to catch Jacob Elordi's performance in Guillermo del Toro’s 2025 take on 'Frankenstein'.

“I hear it's fantastic," Bale admitted. "I just don't watch that many movies.”

Missing Out on Big Performances

Bale’s revelations didn't stop there. The Oscar, SAG Award, and Golden Globe-winning actor also mentioned he hasn't seen his co-star Jessie Buckley's acclaimed role in 'Hamnet'. Jessie, who stars alongside Bale in 'The Bride!', has been sweeping the awards circuit this season with her performance.

“I just know Jessie as The Bride,” he commented, acknowledging Buckley's captivating portrayal that’s been praised across the industry as she heads into the 98th Academy Awards with a Best Actress nomination.

Mutual Admiration

Despite Bale's movie-watching habits, Jessie Buckley expressed her admiration for Bale’s previous work, highlighting his transformative role in 'The Fighter'. She described his performance as "extraordinary," and also praised his unique portrayal in 'The Machinist', saying, “I mean, I don't think anybody has created a character like that, that he has.”

With 'The Bride!' now playing in theaters since March 6, fans can catch Christian Bale and Jessie Buckley lighting up the screen together in this much-anticipated release. Their mutual respect and compelling presence promise a cinematic experience worth watching.
