Chrissy Teigen is getting real about sobriety once again and fans are all ears! The candid model and cookbook author took to Instagram on January 27 to share that she's been sober for 52 days. This news comes after Teigen, who initially quit drinking in 2021, admitted last year she had "let" alcohol back into her life. "After being sober for a little over a year, I went back to drinking," she explained, detailing her desire to enjoy a glass of wine with husband John Legend on special occasions.
“When it got to 11am, I was like, oh f--k, here we go again," Chrissy recalled. "And god, I felt like s--t.”
But now, she's determined to steer clear of the booze, especially with the opportunity to be a part of the revived Star Search. She stressed that if she were to join the show, "there was absolutely no f--king way I’d do it with alcohol in my dressing room."
Teigen's post reveals a struggle that many can relate to – the slow creep of dependency. What started as a mindful indulgence quickly spiraled into something more concerning. "It went from 6pm, to 5, to 4, to aw hell, it’s lunch, why not," she said.
Yet, this time around, Chrissy is choosing a more understated approach to sobriety. "The first time I put my foot down, it was EXCITING," she shared. "The second time… I dunno." She likened her relationship with alcohol to a problematic ex, where the allure was short-lived and ultimately unsatisfying.
Despite the challenges, Chrissy is embracing her alcohol-free life with a sense of humor. "Turns out, without it, I can still be funny," she quipped, proving that sobriety hasn't dulled her sharp wit. With her Self-Conscious podcast, she's also using her platform to inspire others by openly discussing the ups and downs of her journey.
"Nothing makes me more proud than somebody sharing their story of sobriety," she told podcast guest Carl Radke, highlighting the power of vulnerability and connection.
Chrissy Teigen's story isn't just about quitting alcohol – it's about reclaiming control and setting an example for others who might be struggling. Her transparent journey is a reminder that it's never too late to start anew.
