Chris Pratt's Candid Confession

Chris Pratt, the charismatic star who conquered the universe in blockbusters like “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Passengers,” wasn't always the hero we all love. Back in 2009, he was known for playing the less-than-desirable character in rom-coms, a role he candidly reflected on in a recent interview.

Recalling his role in “Bride Wars,” Pratt shared with Entertainment Weekly, "This is the role that I often was offered from early in my career up until this point, which is the guy you don't want to end up with the girl, and kind of the douche character." With characteristic humor, he added, "I've been offered that a lot. I dined out on 'd------- boyfriend' for a long time."

From TV to the Big Screen

While many know him as the ultimate lovable Andy from “Parks and Recreation,” Chris Pratt’s Hollywood journey was far from smooth. “Can I tell you what I loved so much about 'Parks and Rec?' I worked seven minutes from my house," he said. "I would roll into work, and within 20 minutes of parking I would be on camera." His laid-back approach to comedy and improvisation made his stint on the NBC sitcom memorable and close to his heart.

Reflecting on Andy’s quirky romance with April, played by Aubrey Plaza, Pratt remarked, "He's like a golden retriever — eternal optimist — and she's just like aloof... she picked the least likely person to end up with, and then fell in love." It’s this unlikely chemistry that made Andy and April an unforgettable couple.

The Emotional Evolution

Even though Andy wasn't the most emotionally complex character, Pratt believes the sweet moments he shared with Aubrey Plaza's character added depth to his role. "There was no emotional through-line that Andy ever carried, but there were a couple of sweet moments," he mentioned. "They, as a couple — there was a certain synergy. Them together equaled more than each of them apart.”

Pratt's career trajectory from those early 'douche' roles to leading man status is a testament to his talent and adaptability. As fans continue to follow his journey, they can’t help but appreciate the actor’s refreshing honesty and sense of humor about his past.
