Anne Hathaway is making a dazzling return to the small screen with her latest project, a true-crime limited series titled 'Fear Not' for Paramount+. The Oscar-winning actress not only stars but also takes on the role of executive producer for this six-episode drama, which promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Based on a Vanity Fair story by Julie Miller, 'Fear Not' is adapted by the talented Bash Doran, known for acclaimed works like Boardwalk Empire and Hulu’s Foster Dade. Set to debut in 2027, the series reveals the chilling tale of infamous serial killer Stephen Morin and his last abductee, Margy Palm – portrayed by Hathaway herself.
'Fear Not' uncovers Morin's abduction of Palm, which began as a terrifying hostage situation but took a surprising turn towards compassion, prayer, and courage. Margy's unwavering faith and belief in redemption sparked a unique relationship with Morin, lasting beyond her return to safety and culminating in his eventual execution.
“At Paramount+, we are always looking for stories that captivate and entertain our audience, and this series will do exactly that,” said Jane Wiseman, head of originals for the streamer.
The gripping narrative promises to delve deeply into the complexities of human nature and the power of transformation, with Anne Hathaway bringing the depth and gravitas needed for such a nuanced story.
Behind 'Fear Not' is a powerhouse of talent, with MGM Television producing the series. Alongside Hathaway, the executive producer lineup includes Steve Stark and Stacey Levin from Toluca Pictures, Helen Estabrook from Vanity Fair Studios, and Adam Shulman and Johnathan Rice from Somewhere Pictures.
This marks Hathaway’s first TV project since her performance in Apple TV’s 'WeCrashed' in 2022. Not one to rest on her laurels, Hathaway is also starring in five other films set to release in the upcoming year, showcasing her versatility and dedication to her craft.
Bash Doran, who is adapting the story, brings her impressive repertoire to the table, with credits including Netflix's Outlaw King, Hulu’s The Looming Tower, and the BBC’s Life After Life. Her expertise promises to add layers of depth to what is shaping up to be an enthralling series.
