The Gist: Adrian Grenier's Absence from 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'

Adrian Grenier, famously known as Andy’s boyfriend, Nate Cooper, from the iconic fashion flick 'The Devil Wears Prada', did not appear in the sequel. Director David Frankel revealed fans were eager to see Nate's return, but it wasn't meant to be. Scheduling conflicts dashed hopes of a cameo, leaving fans to ponder what might have been. Frankel candidly shared, "I had an idea about sneaking him into a cameo, and, in the end, it was just too late in our production schedule to make it happen."

Production woes aside, the initial film left Nate and Andy’s relationship on an ambiguous note. They shared a scene of reconciliation, but the sequel makes no mention of their ultimate fate, leaving fans with only the original story's open-ended conclusion.

Why Adrian Grenier Bid Farewell to Hollywood

Grenier's decision to leave Hollywood behind came in 2020 when he traded the glitz of Los Angeles for the serene life on a Texas ranch. With his wife, Jordan Roemmele, and their two children, Grenier embraced a quieter existence. "I really liked the down home vibe," he told People, describing Texas as a place with "no frills, no posturing" – a stark contrast to the Hollywood scene.

Although Grenier isn't as visible in the film industry, he hasn't completely shunned acting. Even as he lives the ranch life, he stars in projects like the 2025 rom-com 'You, Always'. His ranch days, he says, are good for the soul, promoting mental health and wise living.

Nate Cooper's Legacy and Adrian's Take

Fans have often labeled Nate Cooper as the 'real villain' for his contentious relationship with Andy Sachs, but Grenier doesn't shy away from the debate. In a light-hearted Starbucks ad, he humorously addressed his character's absence from the sequel. "You might've seen the headlines. I wasn't asked to be part of a certain sequel," he quipped, adding, "Let's leave Nate in 2006 and keep this good energy going!"

While Grenier was disappointed not to reprise his role, he mused about Nate needing his own spinoff due to his controversial nature. Discussing Nate's infamous reaction to Andy missing his birthday, Grenier commented, "His reaction felt a little bit meek and weak, which was not attractive."

Even Anne Hathaway, who played Andy Sachs, weighed in, suggesting that neither she nor Nate should be judged too harshly for youthful indiscretions. "I think that they were both very young," she reflected, adding that it's normal to grow beyond youthful mistakes.
